Rugby

Rugby is split into two codes, Rugby Union and Rugby League.

The basic rules of the 2 codes are very similar, but the way it is played is not. Rugby Union flows and there is not constraints on how long a team can attack the other team. Rugby league has a 6 tackles rule which means once the attacking team have been tackled 6 times without scoring they must kick the ball back towards their opponents giving up possession.

Rugby union can be a professional sport and an amateur sport and is extremely popular in the Southern Hemisphere countries of Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Fiji and Argentina.  Ruby union is also popular in northern hemisphere countries like England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales France and Italy.



Rugby League is popular in the northern and southern hemisphere and is the national sport in Australia although ruby union is played more in New Zealand.  England has Super League which is considered one of the toughest leagues in the world with only Australian clubs able to compete.
